Greer Garson ... Mrs. Claire Woodruff
Robert Taylor ... Jimmy Lee
Joan Crawford ... Mary 'Minnie' Howard
Herbert Marshall ... Rogers Woodruff
Spring Byington ... Bridget 'Bridgie' Drake
Mary, a writer working on a novel about a love triangle, is attracted to her publisher. Her suitor Jimmy is determined to break them up; he introduces Mary to the publisher's wife without telling Mary who she is.
i must admint that i havnt seen this movie yet, but plan to soon. this info has been hosted by imdb.
No Ladies I Know Behave This Way....but perhaps I don't know a lot of true ladies. I'm more shocked that Joan Crawford got top billing in this delightful little farce. Greer Garson stole the show and Robert Taylor's role was dashing and quite likeable. Spring Byington played the perfect hostess for the weekend "Dish of the Dames". The truly unbelievable thing was the casting of Herbert Marshall as Rogers Woodruff. Hard to imagine one woman, let alone two having such rapturous feelings for that character. Perhaps there's the reality in this story. After all, these things are rarely understood. I found, in this case, "When Ladies Meet", to be quite entertaining and being a die-hard Greer Garson fan, I highly recommend it!! - Author: Keedee from United States
i believe this pareson whole heartedly, and cant eait to see it. although i cant stand joan crawford(my opinion). if you like her then more power to ya!

I love Joan, but Greer really steals the picture from her. I know Joan was fuming when she saw the dailies.

Here's what Joan said about When Ladies Meet:
"I have nothing but the worst to say for When Ladies Meet. Terrible story, terrible script, and I doubt that any actress could have made the goddam thing believable. Adrian dressed me divinely, as usual, and that's the only good thing I can say for it. Robert Taylor and Greer Garson were wasted, too, so I shouldn't complain too much. "

that is one of the reasons i dont think very highly of joan crawford. she has to dump all over everyone that she knows is better than her.i respect that you think she is a great actress. but in real life she complained about everything and picked fights with everyone. she tried so hard to pick fights with greer constantly on the set, but greer stayed away from her. that is why she hated her so much. i dont know why she hated robert taylor though. robert taylor got with her in the end didnt he? i mean i havent seen it yet, but isnt that what happened?

I don't think Joan was dissing Greer and Robert. I think she just felt that since the film was so bad that all 3 of their talents were wasted. At the same time, I can empathize with Joan. Here she's been MGM's top star for over a decade and all of a sudden there's a new actress getting all the plum roles she would like to play. She felt she was being put out to pasture and MGM was giving her bad scripts deliberately.

understandable. mgm fired her for a couple reasons. one b/c she was such a diva, two, they felt that audiences were losing want to see her movies, and three, they didnt find her to be the best for the parts she wanted and didnt have a whole lot to put her in.
norma shearer was really considered to be queen of the movies until greer came, but you probably already know that. heehee! but they were still friends even though that happened. joan just was really angry at everyone at mgm for firing her and therefore got a little carried away with her mouth i guess. greer was louis b. mayer's favorite actress on the lot, but when the academy awards went on in 1945 and they were both nominated, louis voted for joan instead even though he had fired her the year before. he was asked why he did and he said, "because she deserved it". i honestly dont know why he said that. i personally couldnt stand mildred pierce, and valley of decision happens to be one of my fav dramas ever so i might not be the best judge for that. i just dont like joan crawford.

i dont know, but (in my opinion) she was just sooooo ugly and i could never look at her for a whole movies length. i actually have seen the women and mildred pierce, and a couple others, but i dont like any of them at all. i dont like her method of acting, the way she was in real life, the way she looked, just everything about her. i have only seen those movies once and dont exactly plan on seeing them ever again.
i read junie allyson's autobiography and she said that when she moved into one of her houses in hollywood, she was a neighbor of joan crawford's. she invited junie over for a visit to get to know each other more. well she went and when she got there, she witnesses the abuse that christina went through. why joan crawford would let people see that is something i will never figure out, but when they were talking all joan did was complain about everything and didnt let junie really talk at all. needless to say, junie never wanted to go see her again.
i just have this strong dislike towards joan crawford. more power to you for loving her, i respect that you have your own favorite people.

But why is Herbert Marshall staring at Robert Taylor in this picture?

I hope if this is released on dvd, it's a double feature with the Myrna Loy and Ann Harding version. I've heard the 1933 version is better.
