this movie shows the real acting skills of errol flynn, but i wouldnt say that its his best movie.

he plays soames and greer plays irene. he is pampered and wealthy and think he has to always get his way. he wants irene, so in his mind, he doesnt care about her feelings, he just wants her for himself. she marries him anyways, but not for the wealth. despite what soames has done, he loves her infinitely, he just has an obscure way of showing it. her niece played by janet leigh(june forsyte), falls for a sort of unkempt guy(phillip bosinney), played by robert young, who is an architect. irene is best friends with june so she naturally goes to meet this young man to make sure he is right for her. upon meeting him, irene is captivated by him and vice versa. he reminds her of a past romance she had before she met soames.

irene tries not to fall for him so june and soames can stay happy.
walter pidgeon plays june's father who was, if you will, kicked out of the family. he is also very much in love with irene, but irene doesnt see this until the ending. who does she get with? well i know, but do you?

Trivia:

In Errol Flynn's book, "My Wicked, Wicked Ways," he describes his first meeting with Greer, about jumping out of her closet naked, etc.

But later in the book, he talks about one day when he was filming this movie, that there was a snowstorm. In California! He was snowed in, so he chartered a helicopter to get to the set, because he was living somewhere in the Hollywood hills.
