Here is the letter.....
Bel Air, Los Angeles 6th January, 1972
My Dear Beatrice
The news just reached me. I am so sorry.
No one understands better than I do what a shock it is to lose a beloved life companion.
Try to realize how blessed you were in having her with you so long and be comforted by the knowledge that you gave her years of happy living with love and security and interest surrounding her every day.
"Those we love never really leave us." It is wonderful to find the truth of this, as time heals the hurt and shock. And you must be very brave and not grieve her now by heavy-heartedness. She must always have been (and always will be) so proud that her daughter had the rare gift of radiating laughter and happiness to others.
Dear Beatrice, your friends must resist the temptation to overwhelm you with well-meant attempts to console. Words are over-used and seem banal and clumsy. But perhaps it helps a little to know people are thinking of you with true sympathy and praying you will be given strength and comforting faith at this time.
Our love and thoughts are with you, and a special prayer for that gallant lady who is embarking now onto next wonderful phase of this never-ending adventure we call life.
May God bless you both, now and always.
Greer
