Today is Marsha Hunt's 90th birthday. She was in three movies with Greer: "Pride and Prejudice" (Mary Bennet) "Blossoms in the Dust" (Charlotte) "The Valley of Decision" (Connie Scott) She is still quite active. I watched some video interviews of her a month ago, from a film noir conference last spring on the west coast. She was on stage answering questions. She looked like she was only 60. sfciviccenter.blogspot.com/2007/01/marsha-hunt-at-noir-city-5.html

i have a lot more movies with marsha hunt other than the ones with our greer. i love her, esp in Bride by Mistake. she is so pretty in that one with larraine day and i keep forgetting the name of the man that is married to her in it, but they make a cute couple. she is so hilarious in it, and all the other movies i have of hers. you are so right ed, she should make an autobiography one of these days i would love to read that.
thanks for the interview clips!!

Her role in "The Valley of Decision" is fabulous. She has several wonderful scenes with Greer, and she undergoes a very nice transformation.
One of my favourite moments: Connie Scott (Marsha): I'm getting very angry, Mary. Mary Rafferty (Greer): Well you'd better get a move-on because I'm beatin' ya to it!!
It kills me to think that Marsha Hunt is still alive and is possibly the last person on earth who knew Greer in the 1940s and could tell us what she was really, really, like, and yet I can't figure out how to get my hands on her.
Perhaps one of us should start stalking her.
(I hope I don't get into trouble for saying that. IT'S JUST A DUMB JOKE!)

heehee! actually i think there are still others alive that have knwn her in the forties. for instance i love angela lansbury and read her bio. in it, the author said that when angela first came to hollywood, not many stars chatted with her too much, but she met greer in the make-up room i think and they were both british so they chatted for a while. i think they knew each other a little in the forties and fifties a little more. im glad angela is still alive!
anyway, i do wish marsha would write an autobio though, im dying to read it! she probably would know a lot about greer.
maybe you should start stalking her ed. heehee! just kidding!
i love that scene ed!! another i love is on the boat when she catched connie talking to her future husband in her nightie. heehee! mary gets so mad at her and calls her miss constance, but when she loves her, she calls her connie. heehee! i always giggle to that part.
another great part with the both of them is when mary goes with her on their honeymoon, then to live with them for two years. when mary is serving tea, and they are talking about big words.
mary: you have to have a heart in your bossom
later
connie:louise has been around, paul says she has been sweet, and kind (or something like that)
mary:*bangs the tea up against the platter by accident*
connie: that is what happens when you have a heart in your bossom mary...why didnt you mary him mary?
and so on and so forth.....
i love that scene.

What a wonderful interview! I really appreciated when she said, "…There are those who don't like the world. They only like the U.S. I think the world is just dandy and we'd better join it." The Way We Wore is a gem. I love clothing styles of the '30s & '40s so it's great to see them in such breadth & detail in Marsha's book. The accounts of her life experiences interspersed throughout the book are insightful & invaluable. An interview with Marsha discussing her various roles & films: www.lex-barker.com/index.php?lang=eng&menu=huntI also liked this post reviewing Marsha's life: www.altfg.com/blog/actors/marsha-hunt/What's better is that the author of that short biography, Roger C. Memos, is currently working on a documentary of Marsha's life: marshahuntdocumentary.blogspot.com, www.hollywoodandart.com/zeldacandance.htmlAnd it appears that Marsha can still be reached for fan mail & autographs: Marsha Hunt 13131 Magnolia Boulevard Sherman Oaks, CA 91423-1528 Tel: (818) 994-9695, Fax: (818) 784-2850 Hopefully Marsha Hunt's Sweet Adversity will be completed soon!
