this would happen to be the sequel to the first movie which was called mrs. miniver.
it wasnt as successful as the fist one was in theaters, but i like it all the same. its actually a very sad movie. mrs. miniver spends the entire movie dealing with the fact that she is dying from a cancer and she has, "not less than six months, but not more than a year". the doctor uses these very words to her.
she looks very beautiful throughout the entire film for someone who is dying of cancer, but hey, i wouldnt have it any other way of course. at the beginning of the movie the war ends, and her whole family is reunited after five or six years of being separated. their son, toby, was in america staying away from the war. he was played by young james fox! i love jimmy!
their daughter, judy, was serving as a wac i think in the war and meets a general who is married, but she wants to marry him anyway. clem miniver, her husband, was also serving in the war, and hadnt seen her in a whole year. imagine being away from walter pidgeon for that long! oy vey!
i must have cried my heart out to this movie when she died at the end. i just get so emotional, and to movies too. im weird that way i guess! heehee! there was no mention of their eldest son, vin.
of course in real life greer had married the actor(richard ney) who had played their son in the movie, but they divorced before this one was made, so he was not going to show up in this one for sure. greer once jokingly mentioned while they were making this movie that she shouldve said that he ran away and married greer garson in hollywood. what a line that wouldve made. heehee!
